Materials You'll Need:

8" x 8" x 8' pressure-treated pine posts (4)

2" x 10" x 8' pine boards (6)

2" x 4" x 8' pine boards (4)

1" x 6" x 8' pine boards (12)

3/4" plywood (4' x 8')

Wood screws (3")

Wood glue

Sandpaper

Stain or paint (optional)

Tools You'll Need:

Drill

Circular saw

Miter saw

Clamps

Level

Measuring tape

Sanding block

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Cut the legs

Cut the four 8" x 8" posts to a height of 30".

2. Cut the side rails

Cut the two 2" x 10" boards to a length of 84".

3. Cut the end rails

Cut the two 2" x 10" boards to a length of 76".

4. Cut the slats

Cut the twelve 1" x 6" boards to a length of 72".

5. Assemble the frame

Attach the side rails to the end rails using wood screws. Be sure to use wood glue for added strength.

Attach the legs to the corners of the frame using wood screws and wood glue.

6. Install the slats

Lay the slats across the frame, spacing them evenly apart. Secure the slats to the frame using wood screws.

7. Cut the plywood

Cut the 3/4" plywood to a size of 76" x 84". This will be the platform for your mattress.

8. Attach the plywood

Place the plywood on top of the frame and secure it using wood screws. Be sure to use wood glue for added strength.

9. Sand and finish

Sand the entire bed to smooth out any rough edges.

Apply a stain or paint to the bed as desired.
